Not Quite a Big Boy

We have been very busy preparing for Hadley. Cleaning and organizing are top priorities. We also have a home project that is keeping us busy which is a lot of fun! I am in my third trimester, exhausted, and a complete joy to be around. Honey, you can laugh now.

What’s up with Scotty?

He turned 20 months on July the 2nd.

Scotty got promoted to Tadpole status at swim. From what I understand, this means that I don’t have to get in the water anymore. Whoo-hoo?! I am quite nervous about this. His first class starts next week. I hope we both do well!

Scotty has recently become quite obsessed with watching himself pee. Yes, maybe this is a boy thing, but every time we do a diaper change, Scotty will bear down, get red faced, fists clutched and well watch himself pee…He finds it fantastic! He also loves to aim for the drain hole in the shower. After any type of bath we have to immediately get him dry and diapered. Otherwise, we are running behind him wiping up pee as he is squatting in various places. I feel like I have a new puppy or something! So thankful for tile floors! Some say maybe he is ready to start potty training. While this may be true, I don’t think I am ready for that hurdle yet. We will probably buy a little potty for him soon and just begin to discuss it. To add to this interest in peeing we also love to toot and announce to everyone that we in fact tooted followed by a huge grin. This is definitely a BOY thing!

This weekend we also tried to transition Scotty into his big boy bed. Scotty completely refused. He got out 5 times only, but every other time he could not put himself to sleep. After two days of no naps, extremely bad behavior, fussiness, whining, a very moody, impatient, and tired momma, and a dad that was also very tired, we gave up and ended up buying a new mattress…a crib mattress that is. We decided that Scotty isn’t ready for a big boy bed. If I wasn’t SO pregnant and tired, and at home where I could work with Scotty more I think this might work, but that is not the case. There are a lot of changes going on including a new sibling, new room, and school. We plan to put his crib in his new room. We love Scotty and want him to be happy to transition into a big boy bed when he is ready.

I don't comment much on the dogs, but they are still our little babies, and doing well. I feel so bad for them because they are bothered daily by a little boy.  Scotty definitely gets time out anytime he is ugly to the dogs. Dre' and Flip, I believe, love Monday through Wednesday so they can catch up on sleep!!!   Sorry sweet little boys!!

A Little Re-Do

I have been doing a little re-decorating around the house over the past year. These things take time for many reasons other then just the toddler factor! Unfortunately, I don't have any before pictures, but I plan to get better at remembering to snap a before picture BEFORE I start re-doing something! I did save some inspirational photos that helped me decide where to start!

For my family room, the picture below helped me plan the placement of the furniture. This room is way too fancy for my taste, not to mention a lot bigger then mine. However,  I did like the crystal lamps, which I already had, couch color, and the coffee table I just love.  I was able to find a reasonably priced piece at Chic Warehouse in the Heights.

Now for my more relaxed version...I couldn't get all of it in one photo...

I also re-did my dining room.  While I can't take total credit for this room I had the inspirational photo below and a good friend of mine Sarah, who really helped me A LOT! Thanks!!  I kept all the main furniture the same, but I  upgraded to a new Kilim Rug (which is actually cut out of the inspirational photo)  new chairs , lamps, chandelier, and other decor. I am still trying to find some art for the opposite wall.

Welcome Baby Boy

Yesterday evening we had the pleasure of hosting a couples baby shower at our home for some dear friends  Martin and Chris Carcache. They are expecting their first baby boy, Christian Gabriel, in July. Chris is actually 37 weeks so baby Christian could come at anytime! We are so excited for them and we can't wait to meet their new addition very soon.  We followed their nursery theme with Red, White, Navy, and Baby Blue. An All-American theme, so adorable!  Thanks to everyone that helped host this party!  It was absolutely a joy to do!

BIG BOY ROOM/NURSERY

Big Boy Room! What fun! I would say this room is about 99% done, minus curtains. I didn’t do a theme, but more a fun mishmash of pieces that my little boy loves. I would say his favorite is the flea market basket full of fun balls. So boy! I still need to move over his clothes and a few other items.  Is he ready for a big boy bed? I am not sure, but we intend to try it out July 1st. Everyone wish us luck! I am not sleeping that well right now anyway, so maybe it won’t be so bad?  Don’t worry, there are long/tall side rails on the bed, but they are hidden away for the pictures. Although this was so much fun to  do, it does make me a little sad. My little baby is moving from his “nursery” to his “big boy room”….

Ok, so here is my own inspirational board for my sweet little girls room! I can’t wait to get started on it since I finally picked a paint color, not to mention that she will be here before we know it!

Catch up!

I am weeks behind, so this is the short version of what we have been doing!
1. We attended my cousin Meg's wedding on June 4th in Austin. She was absolutely stunning and the wedding itself was so pretty. I had the honor of being a bridesmaid so I did not have the time to take a lot of pictures, but here are a few.

BIG Congrats Meg and Jared!

My sweet parents. I just LOVE this picture!

2. We have spent more time at the the pool for fun and of course we continue our swim lessons. Scotty continues to do well.  We went to the community pool this last weekend with the Rivera’s and also met up with the Feigleson's where we ended up with a “boo-boo”  which involved a face plant by the pool onto the concrete. My child can’t walk anywhere! He just runs!!!  It didn’t seem to phase him too much, but Scott and I were mortified! It was SO fun watching the boys play together. When it was snack time, they all shared! It was SO SO CUTE!

End of May

On Friday, we finished out the spring session of Little Gym.  Nana and Baba came to watch Scotty show off and a lot of laughter per sued. Honestly, it was the wildest class…EVER.  I forgot my camera, but was able to snap a little picture with my phone of Scotty getting his ribbon. He has so much fun at this class, not to mention the great nap he takes afterwards, that we signed up for the rest of the summer!

Scotty also completed his first month of swim class and was promoted to Starfish 2! Daddy got to attend a class and was very impressed with his little boys skills! We are very proud of the accomplishments he has made in the month.

Speaking of swim class, Scotty is just loving the pool and summer has just started. The word "pool" brings lot's of excitement!( I was able to capture a little of this on video below.)   This past weekend, we tried the community pool which has a great shallow area for the kids, water park area, and 2 big twisting slides. Scott and I took turns holding Scotty down the slides.  Scotty giggled the whole way down the slide followed by “mo” “mo” aka “more”! I think we went about 8-10 times down the slide! Our little outing ended abruptly after a wet diaper and poop episode. Poop definitely does not stay contained in a wet diaper. We still had  a lot of fun!

We spent time with family, and also squeezed in a date night which included the Hangover Part 2 and Outback. We sat down at Outback and Scott looks at me and says… 7:00 “Aren’t you just exhausted and can’t wait to go to bed?” ha ha! Yes, I definitely feel like this every day! I guess it is just the stage we are in with a toddler and another new little one on the way. We often joke how lame we are! We are just so tired ALL the time!

We hope everyone had a great Memorial Weekend!
